🚩 Red Flags of Fake Meetups Operated by Cults

Unfortunately, many groups on Meetup, Karrot, Somoim, and even some university clubs in Korea are operated by cults, especially the deceptive Shincheonji cult. Here are some tips to dodge the bullets.

  1. Free Meetups : They offer free activities such as free Korean classes, free language exchanges, free board games, free book clubs, free job consulting, free therapy sessions, free tarot cards, free meditations, free seminars, free tours, free guitar classes, free drawing, free Bible studies and etc. Their main targets are university students or foreigners who may not have a stable income, which is why they promote these meetups as free. Remember, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, especially in Korea.

Please be cautious about "Free Korean Class" luring innocent Korean learners!

  2. Unclear Purpose or Venue : Their sole purpose is to scam people, so they intentionally avoid clearly stating the group’s purpose or the event’s venue.

  3. Google Form Sign-Up : To join their fake events or groups, they request personal information like your phone number, name, age, university, social media accounts, MBTI, etc. Once they have this information, they share it in their Telegram group chat to find members who may know you.

  4. Subsequent Invitations : After a couple of months, they might invite you to seminars or introduce you to an acquaintance all of sudden who they claim is a friend, but is actually an SCJ evangelist. Then subtly incorporating Shincheonji messaging over time.

💌 If you're not sure whether you joined a fake meet-up or encountered SCJ recruiters?

This is a community dedicated to helping foreign victims and families whose children have been indoctrinated into Shincheonji. It consists of ex-members and other victims who offer support and share their experiences.

🗳️ Petitions to Outlaw Shincheonji

They pretend to be an ordinary church, but actually a crime syndicate has been destroying Korean society, just like the unification church in Japan. Shincheonji Crimes 101
