Hello world! SBIC (Seoul Busan International Club) started in Busan in August 2024 with a mission to create a community where individuals from diverse backgrounds could connect on a deeper level. Within a short time, the group rapidly grew to over 500 members, fostering meaningful discussions and friendships. Recently we expanded to Seoul, bringing our vision to a broader audience.

Our goals

Personal growth, Shaping our ideas together, and Building a Supportive Neighborhood Community. 함께 생각을 나누고, 경험하고, 지지하며 성장하는 이웃 커뮤니티.

Our goal is to go beyond typical drinking parties and create a space where members can share their unique perspectives on global issues, culture, and life.

In Daeyeon-dong, our neighborhood in Busan, 90% of the residents are foreign students or workers from various countries, while only 9% are Korean outsiders and 1% are locals. What we’ve observed in this diverse town is that many residents tend to socialize only within their own ethnic groups due to language barriers and vastly different backgrounds, since South Korea is a largely homogeneous country. This inspired us to conduct a social experiment: how can we harmonize together in a town facing rapid globalization?

We began by inviting our neighbors one by one, along with their friends, to discuss social issues affecting the city. Our goal is to create an environment where intellectual curiosity and meaningful conversations can flourish. Whether through thoughtful discussions, cultural exchanges, or exploring new areas, we aim to build a community that encourages personal growth and broadens perspectives.

As tech enthusiasts, we are driven by curiosity and a passion for exploring new technologies and global trends. We believe in the power of technological breakthroughs to change the world. On a personal level, one of the main reasons we started this club was to connect with like-minded individuals and prepare for opportunities with global tech giants, as well as potential immigration opportunities.

Looking for new organizers to succeed and lead this community starting in 2025 커뮤니티를 이어갈 새 운영자들을 찾습니다

With both organizers leaving Korea next year, we're looking for new organizers living in Seoul and Busan to take over managing SBIC in 2025. New organizers must have participated in our group frequently and built a strong network with our 500+ members. Being bilingual or multilingual is a big plus, and we welcome all nationality as long as you can lead the group and create new events constantly.
